Find Out How to Improve Your Smile With Veneers
There are different ways to look at a person’s smile and look at the teeth and make a decision of what can be done to make a difference. There may be misalignments, there may be crowding, there may be a shade, a general shade that the patient has because of medications that they took as a young child or things of that nature that makes the smile not so pleasing to them.
When we look at cosmetic dentistry, everybody automatically thinks of veneers, but that’s not where it starts and ends. It’s not end all, be all answer to everything. There are a lot of smaller procedures that can be done, a lot of less expensive procedures that can be done, that would still give you the results that the patients may be looking for.
Veneers in particular, they come in two types, there is composite resin veneers, which is done in office, chairside, meaning the patient walks in with their teeth, we prep their teeth, there may be some preliminary work that’s needed by the lab, but we essentially prep the teeth and put on the veneers at the same appointment.
Porcelain veneers, slightly different. They’re indirect restorations, meaning that they’re made in the lab. So again, some preliminary work and diagnostic work is done in advance. The patient comes in with their teeth. We prep the teeth, they leave with a provisional, which is very similar to their final product, and then after a few weeks, they come back and we place their porcelain veneers for them.
